BIOGRAPHY OF AUTHOR BOB PLIMPTON:
Author Bob Plimpton comes from a notable family
with deep roots in America. A distant cousin of author George Plimpton,
they both descended from the last known person in England with
the name Plympton, one John Plympton, who arrived in America in
1627, was a founder of the towns of Plympton, Medford and Deerfield,
Mass. had 13 children before he was captured by Indians, marched
to Montreal and burned at the stake there. All Plimptons, or Plymptons,
are descended from “Sergeant John” and at last count
before the last family reunion held in 1988, there were about 468
Plimptons in the world.
Plimpton served in the U.S. Army Air Force
for 30 months during WWII becoming a 2 nd Lt. navigator, bombardier,
radar operator. When the war ended Plimpton returned to the University
of Connecticut where he studied pre-med, engineering and business
law.
Always interested in advertising, he started
Plimpton Associates which staged city-wide retail sales promotions
throughout New England and had an AAA rating with Chambers of Commerce
and Better Business Bureaus throughout the area.
Having sold that company, he started “Let’s
Dine Out, Inc.” which did specialty promotions for top hotels
and restaurants throughout New England, New York and New Jersey
again building a top reputation with the Chambers and Bureaus.
When he sold that company he “retired” in
1962 to a 12 acre waterfront estate in Watch Hill, Rhode Island
where he lived for about two years before being given the idea
to start marketing a British seaweed-based product called CYTEX
which is still the only successfully marketed Cytokinin product
in the world and is sprayed on fruits and vegetables to make them
larger, last longer and taste better. Founded in 1963, the firm
is in its 42 nd year of operation with a single product! Almost
unheard of in business today.
In 1982 Plimpton got an “urging” or “calling” to “get
involved in the governmental process.” This started
him on a quest for what was really happening behind the political
scene. He has spent much of the intervening 23 years on that
quest which resulted in the knowledge contained in his book “You
